Does Your Water Bill Seem High?

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

If your water bill seems high and you think there may be a billing error or a leak, please check the following before calling the utility office:

Write down the numbers on your meter, including any stationary zeros, and have them ready when you phone the office.

Check to make sure you don’t have a leak by turning off all of the water inside and outside your home or business. Go outside to the water meter and find the small hand that resembles a second hand on a watch and observe it carefully for at least two minutes to be certain it is not moving or jiggling. If it moves, there is water going somewhere – this definitely indicates a leak.
